A Few of Our Favorite Things: Raising a Glass to Spirits
Posted July 9, 2019
June was a BUSY month for Team Brightly. We went from Providence, RI > New Orleans, LA > Bend, OR > Kent, WA > ITALY > Cincinnati, OH > Springfield, IL > San Diego, CA and probably some more in between. We can’t keep track anymore. But this month, we decided to slow things down and halt work traveling so we can enjoy some time at home, kick our feet up and even to enjoy some of the finer things, like a glass of our favorite spirits.
This is what Team Brightly is sipping on.
Vecchio Amaro del Capo
Keith is still reminiscing of his two-week trip to Italy (you can learn about his country-side adventures and new appreciation for foods here). While there, he enjoyed capping off his nights with a glass of Vecchio Amaro del Capo, a perfect after-dinner digestif. Made of a mix of 29 herbs, flowers, fruits and roots, this Italian liquor is blended into a single, unique spirit with an intense flavor experience that can be enjoyed with friends, over dinner or at the nightclub, although I don’t think Keith had that in mind.
Barr Hill Tom Cat Reserve, Caledonia Spirits
Now that he is finally home, Jonathan is returning to one of his favorites, Barr Hill Tom Cat Reserve by Caledonia Spirits. As Jonathan said in his Favorite Things post, he is a lover of gin and after seeing the barrel-aged spirit win a gold medal at the Honey Spirits Competition, he had to get his hands on a bottle, and then another, and another. Jonathan suggests sipping it with a few dashes of bitters and a lemon twist or with vermouth, slices of ginger or a mint sprig.
OYO Honey Vanilla Bean, Middle West Spirits
After finishing a few spirits trips for the National Honey Board, you would think we would have to put the made with honey spirits away, but Alison can’t seem to put down Middle West Spirits’ OYO Honey Vanilla Bean flavored vodka. Alison likes her flavored vodkas, but this combination of honey and vanilla beans blows all others out of the water. “It’s like an elevated but elegant explosion of birthday cake. Simply: mind blown.”
