Mead Crafters Competition Hits Record Number of Entries
Posted July 8, 2022
One of my favorite aspects of our partnership with the National Honey Board are the competitions. Each year, our team makes improvements to elevate and improve on the year before, and this year we had a whopping 350 meads — the maximum cap — entered into the Mead Crafters Competition. I love stewarding these events; cracking Dad jokes to the judges; and I definitely got my steps in this year as we had a wonderful array of gold medalists.
The secret’s still out as to who won Best of Show — we will announce all of the medalists next week — but for now here is a sneak peek of the event.

The judges’ senses did the talking, as blind tastings include aroma, clarity, mouthfeel and overall impression of each submitted mead.

Our esteemed judges taste tested meads over the course of the two-day competition.

Diligent judges’ notes are made on each mead.

Thanks to St. Louis, Missouri-based Lemp Grand Hall for hosting us again this year.
